It's been a while

I've been a very busy guy these last couple months so I thought I should fill you in.

I'm enjoying speech therapy with David. I don't always want to participate but on days I do I really have fun and he says I'm making strides. I also go to UMD with Mom and Dad on Thursdays to play with students who are learning to be speech language pathologists. The first couple weeks were rough with me getting to know the girls that were working with me. The last week we were there I had a blast! We played with drums and rattles and an exercise ball.

I turned 2 in October. I had a party with my family and friends and got lots of cool stuff. Mommy made me a cake and let me eat tons of sugar, nothing better than that!

Mommy says I'm starting to do much better with my words again. In addition to signing "more" and "please", I try to sign "all done". I also say: Mom, Dada, gah (go), down, up, kah (cat), no no no, yah (hiyah!), meow, "I do it", I "and" "I got it", "I love you" and I try to say "more". Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me and I'm glad I can get my point across a little better.

Been a while

I have been so busy lately that Mommy hasn't had time to update so here we go.

I'm growing like a weed. Mommy and Daddy weighed me a couple weeks ago and I was over 26lbs and when they checked to see how tall I am I measured 34 inches, exactly half as tall as Daddy, meaning I'm going to be taller than Mommy!

My daycare has changed locations so now instead of being down by Nana's house I'm at the same school as Daddy. On my first day I pulled the fire alarm and sent all of Daddy's professors as well as the kids in my daycare outside, I just wanted to play outside for longer.

I finished my therapy with Jack and Sheila and we started speech therapy at home with David. David says I'm a lot of fun to work with and I like it when he comes over since he has a huge bag of toys for me to play with.

My birthday is in two weeks and then I'll be 2. Mommy says she can't believe it but I can, I'm getting to be so grown up!

All boy all the time

I heard Mommy the other day saying I'm all boy. I don't understand what she means, I mean she's seen under my diaper doesn't that indicate that I am a boy? The teachers at daycare say the same thing. The only thing I can figure is they are talking about my behavior. I like dirt, rough housing and generally getting into trouble. At daycare I push the other kids out of my way so I can get to what I want first. I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago at a birthday party. I wanted to get into one of the cars at the party and there was a kid in my way so I just pushed him over and climbed in. Mommy says this makes me a bully but I don't think so.

My favorite thing to do these days is see how flustered I can get Daddy. We were supposed to take the bus to speech earlier this week but I decided to pitch a major fit and see how Daddy handled it. All I'll say is that we didn't make it to the bus so we didn't make it to speech. And then later in the week I decided I didn't want to take my afternoon nap so I screamed and cried until Daddy stood by my crib until I fell asleep. I have him trained. I tried to do the same thing with Mommy today and she just said "good night" and left me to cry, she's mean.

Speech therapy isn't much fun. I don't like going anymore and I heard Mommy and Daddy saying I'll be going to occupational therapy soon and all I can think is that this isn't going to be fun either. I'm still not talking, I only use the sign for more when I feel like it and Mommy is worried and frustrated but you know what, I'll do it when I really want to, but not a second before.

Quick update

Just wanted to pop on and tell everyone hi. Things are going well here. I go visit Jack my speech therapist twice a week and we play for a half hour each time. I don't know why I go but it's kinda fun so i don't mind. Jack asked Mommy if I was going to get to play with Sheila soon but we have to wait a little while for that.

Mommy is working a lot lately and I don't really like it but it means I get to play with the other kids at daycare and Daddy more.

I'm no longer the baby on Daddy's side of the family my new cousin Heiden was born last week. Mommy said I was never as small as Heiden but I think she's lying (for the record Heiden was 8lbs 5oz and 20inches and I was 9lbs 4.1oz and 19.5inches... whatever that means).

Yay for warm weather!

It's finally getting warmer here so Mommy says we can go out and play more. A couple of weeks ago it was really warm and I showed Mommy that I know how to get to the park, it's only a couple blocks from our house so I started walking that way and Mommy carried me over the streets but I got there. We've been going a little more often since it's nicer, I really enjoy it, except Mommy won't let me put rocks in my mouth.

Grandma and Grandpa Moline came up this last weekend and took me overnight so Mommy and Daddy could go out for Daddy's birthday (he's getting old, 28 years). We went to a hotel where I got to swim and play and wear them out. I had lots of fun. I get to see them again next weekend. Mommy and I are going down to visit for my cousin Jenna's baby shower and since it's the last weekend before Daddy has finals we are going to stay all weekend. I'm kind of excited for Jenna to have her baby because then I won't be the littlest at Thanksgiving or Christmas this year.

Mommy says this summer she's going to take me to see the new Ice Age movie, this excites me because I love the two we have and as long as it has Scrat I'll be really entertained.

I must be going, time to put knots in Mommy's hair.

Meanest Parents Alive

My parents are so mean. They have started this thing called "time out" and I'm not a big fan. They only do it when I'm doing the really fun stuff, climbing on tables, pulling mom's hair, biting and picking on the cats. They put me in the playpen and walk away for one minute. It's not fun.

Something that is fun is Mommy taking me for walks and over to the park. Today she made me leave even though I didn't want to, Mommy said it was too cold to say out longer but I didn't think so.

Grandma is coming up to take care of me for a few days while Mommy heals from her nose surgery, she told me I have to behave myself but when don't I?

It's supposed to snow tomorrow, which makes me excited I liked playing in the snow this winter maybe I'll get to play in it again.

It's bedtime so I'll talk to you all soon!

Owie owie owie

Last week Mommy took me to urgent care because I had been running a fever for 4 days. At that point I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and bronchitis but the dr didn't give me any medicine. He just told Mommy to keep doing what she was doing. I started to feel a little better when my fever broke but this weekend I started to get a really icky runny nose and even had green snot coming out of my tear ducts. Last night I was having a hard time sleeping so Mommy decided she wanted to take me to see her doc today since she was going in. I still have some wheezing in my lungs and I have a double ear infection. I know Mommy feels awful about not bringing me in sooner but I wasn't hurting really bad until last night. I have antibiotics to take for the next 10 days, it means Mommy is going to drive down during her lunch breaks to give me my antibiotics on days she has to work all day. It'll be nice to see her and I know she'll be happy to see me because she hates being away from my adorable face during the day.

Such a big boy

Every day Lex seems to be getting bigger and bigger. He's still not talking much which worries me but he's showing signs that he's learning. He runs, tiptoes, climbs, tackles the kitten to snuggle and pet him. Lex loves to give kisses and hugs and he's learned how to push himself along on his bikes. We are practicing coloring (and not eating the crayons) and cleaning up toys when we are done with them. I know these are all great things but I would give anything for him to say something other than dada, mama and nana.

Today I put him in a 2 year old size sweatshirt and he fit it, which just surprises me because I don't see how much he's grown until he outgrows clothes. Before I know it he'll be standing well above me, just like my little brothers.

Mean Ole Mommy!

I've gone to the doctor twice in the past week and I don't like it one bit! I went last week because Mom thought I had pink eye. I did, but the viral type so there was nothing she could do except warm compresses and wait it out. Then she takes me today and not only does the doctor have Mom pin me down to look in my ears and to make sure my testicles are still descended (really? they were there last time, they were there this morning when I was playing in my diaper... where could they have gone???) but I got 2 shots today. I know Mom says they are good for me but I don't like them one bit. It doesn't help that she took me to do this stuff during naptime, I didn't want to be there, I wanted to be snug in my bed with my blankets and Bedtime Bear. The assistant said I'm 22lbs and 8 oz and 30.75 inches, I guess that means I'm getting bigger. I kind of knew I was getting taller since Mom upgraded me to one pair of 18 month old pants since they have the adjustable waistband, the rest of the time I look like I'm waiting for the flood.

I'm such a big boy

Christmas has come and gone and I made out like a bandit. I got the bounce and spin pony I really wanted and lots of other toys. I got a drum and xylophone that is pretty awesome, a few books and some clothes. My Grandma Linn made me a super cool towel to go with the bath toys she got me, she must know I love bathtime.

Since Daddy is on Christmas break from school Mommy decided that we'll work on having me sleep in my bed without the guard rail on it. A few months back Mommy changed it from a baby bed to a big boy bed but put a guard rail on it to keep me from falling out. Last week she took the rail off and I've been sleeping in it like a big boy. The only "problem" Mommy says there is is that I don't stay in bed like I'm supposed to. I don't see why I have to lay in bed when I'm not tired so I get out and go play with my toys or find Mommy and Daddy. I have fallen out of bed a couple of times while sleeping but Mommy and Daddy are smart and put a couple of pillows and a blanket on the floor next to my bed to soften the blow.

Mommy says my next goal is to start talking. I don't feel the need to use words to tell her how I feel, she's pretty good at figuring it out. We play a game where she sits on the floor and opens her arms up wide and I run across the room to give her a great big hug and kiss. Isn't that more important than talking? Besides I'm more interested in learning how to use a regular cup than talking.

I have to go see my doctor on February 2nd for my 15 month well child exam, I'll be almost 16 months by then but it was the soonest they could get me in that didn't interfere with Mommy's work or Daddy's school schedule. Mommy has warned me there will be more shots then and I'm not looking forward to that but I suppose it's for my own good and Mommy promised to buy me another book. I like the books she's been buying me lately, they are board books and that means I won't accidentally tear out the pages reading them.

Well it's nap time off to dreamland I go! Happy New Year everyone!
