L-E-X!!!

Lex has a new favorite habit, spelling his name and finding the letters. I love the way he says X because it's an obviously fun sound for him. He has become this amazing little boy, dancing, singing, climbing, getting into things, showering people with kisses, roller skating, bike riding and talking up a storm all with a smile on his face. I'm one lucky mom!

I'm going to list the words and signs he says now so I can have a record, if you aren't interested go ahead and skip the rest of this post :)
Go, up, yes, no, Nemo, Dorie, Kuzco, Wall-E, Eva, ready, set, one, two, three, four, six, eight, twenty three, zero, water, cup, kiss, where, are, you, kitty, dog, pop, McQueen, stop, get, down, sit, sip, milk, juice, cookie, okay, what, icky, pretty, eat, all, done, book, open, why, car, run, jump, play, candy, apple, icky, happy, Mom, Dad, Mara (Tamara, his speech therapist), bus, baby, finger, bite, L, E, X, P, B, S, funny, movie, off, yay, swim, yum, banana, chair, Pam, auntie, uncle, night, mine, blanket, nom, out, swing, hello, bye, see, love, wow, red, green and yellow.

Wow!!! 93 words I can't believe he's almost hit the 100 words mark! I'm sure I've forgotten a couple but I'm so proud!

Yay me! I'm almost 3!

It has been very busy at my house lately. I had evaluations to see where I am for my pre-k class that I'll be starting in 2 weeks. I'm really excited! They have a lot of cool toys there.

I moved to the 2 year old room at daycare, it's been rough but we are all trying to work together to make it easier. Mommy seems disappointed about how her meeting went with them yesterday but she was a huge hit with my friends. I couldn't sit and read books with her because all my friends wanted to.

Last weekend we did our first walk for autism. Mommy made up a whole bunch of cool tie dye shirts that my family wore and we got to walk around a big circle to raise money for autism programs in the area. I loved the bounce house they had, I didn't want to get out.

My next big event is my birthday party. Mommy bought a whole bunch of decorations already and is making me a Cars cake! I love that movie so much and I ask for a new car when we go to walmart. I have lots of Lightning McQueens since they are my favorite.

Let's review

Mommy has really been neglecting my blog lately so I've finally guilted her into updating.

February: On the first I had my sedated hearing test. Mommy said I was a tough cookie because it took 2 doses of the med to make me sleepy to actually get me to sleep. Mommy says I did well on the test though, I only had a tiny bit of hearing loss that they said was because of my tubes. I guess that means Mommy and Daddy know I'm just ignoring them when I don't respond. There were two bad parts to that day. The first was vomiting. I threw up a lot after Mommy forced me awake, but eventually I kept down some juice so they let me go home with Mommy and Daddy. The second was being forced to sit in a playpen all evening after the test. I was "drunk" according to Daddy and really wobbly on my feet so to keep me protected they made me sit in the play pen until bedtime. The first is also when Mommy and Daddy had a meeting with David (my speech pathologist) to go over the results of the autism screen that he did. He told them I have a mild to moderate autism diagnosis once Dr. Anne signs off on it. I think Mommy felt relieved to be given the diagnosis because she suspected it.

March: My uncle Karl came home! He's my hero! Uncle Karl has been in Afghanistan for a while and he came home to surprise Nana and Papa at the end of the month. Mommy was pretty amazed that once I realized my uncle wears a hat all the time that I became interested in wearing my Spide.r-man hat more often. I wear it to daycare every day and any time we go outside to keep the sun off my face. I also started having some problems in daycare, there are just too many kids in my classroom and they make me feel out of control. I know hitting, biting and pulling hair isn't good but I can't help myself. Mommy and Daddy explained autism to my teachers at daycare so they seem to understand my behaviors a little more.

April: I've continued to have problems in my classroom. Daddy met with my teachers and Miss Amy at daycare to discuss what can be done to help me. I think I'm going to be moving back to the class with Miss Dani and Miss Lisa. I really hope this is the case because I love Miss Dani and Miss Lisa. Mommy and Daddy think this would be a good move for me too. While the 2 year old room is where I'm supposed to be for my age the 18-23 month old classroom is a better fit because there are less kids and I have more in common with them. I hope they figure out where I'm going soon. I got a trampoline from one of Mommy's friends at work and I LOVE it! It gives me a place to let out some energy and get all kinds of good sensory input.

Okay I think that's everything for now. I should let Mommy update her blog.

Let's play

Hi everyone! I know it's been a long time but it's been busy around here. I've been working hard on speech and OT and now I have lots of words (including "out there" and "baby").

I was super lucky at Christmas got lots of cool toys and a new tent that looks like a monster. I have new puzzles and tools, a monkey thing and a sit and spin. All in all it's been keeping me busy. I have a follow up hearing test tomorrow and you'll have to check Mom's blog tomorrow to see how I did, you can head over there then to hear about the rest of her neurotic nature too. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

It's been a while

I've been a very busy guy these last couple months so I thought I should fill you in.

I'm enjoying speech therapy with David. I don't always want to participate but on days I do I really have fun and he says I'm making strides. I also go to UMD with Mom and Dad on Thursdays to play with students who are learning to be speech language pathologists. The first couple weeks were rough with me getting to know the girls that were working with me. The last week we were there I had a blast! We played with drums and rattles and an exercise ball.

I turned 2 in October. I had a party with my family and friends and got lots of cool stuff. Mommy made me a cake and let me eat tons of sugar, nothing better than that!

Mommy says I'm starting to do much better with my words again. In addition to signing "more" and "please", I try to sign "all done". I also say: Mom, Dada, gah (go), down, up, kah (cat), no no no, yah (hiyah!), meow, "I do it", I "and" "I got it", "I love you" and I try to say "more". Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me and I'm glad I can get my point across a little better.

Been a while

I have been so busy lately that Mommy hasn't had time to update so here we go.

I'm growing like a weed. Mommy and Daddy weighed me a couple weeks ago and I was over 26lbs and when they checked to see how tall I am I measured 34 inches, exactly half as tall as Daddy, meaning I'm going to be taller than Mommy!

My daycare has changed locations so now instead of being down by Nana's house I'm at the same school as Daddy. On my first day I pulled the fire alarm and sent all of Daddy's professors as well as the kids in my daycare outside, I just wanted to play outside for longer.

I finished my therapy with Jack and Sheila and we started speech therapy at home with David. David says I'm a lot of fun to work with and I like it when he comes over since he has a huge bag of toys for me to play with.

My birthday is in two weeks and then I'll be 2. Mommy says she can't believe it but I can, I'm getting to be so grown up!

All boy all the time

I heard Mommy the other day saying I'm all boy. I don't understand what she means, I mean she's seen under my diaper doesn't that indicate that I am a boy? The teachers at daycare say the same thing. The only thing I can figure is they are talking about my behavior. I like dirt, rough housing and generally getting into trouble. At daycare I push the other kids out of my way so I can get to what I want first. I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago at a birthday party. I wanted to get into one of the cars at the party and there was a kid in my way so I just pushed him over and climbed in. Mommy says this makes me a bully but I don't think so.

My favorite thing to do these days is see how flustered I can get Daddy. We were supposed to take the bus to speech earlier this week but I decided to pitch a major fit and see how Daddy handled it. All I'll say is that we didn't make it to the bus so we didn't make it to speech. And then later in the week I decided I didn't want to take my afternoon nap so I screamed and cried until Daddy stood by my crib until I fell asleep. I have him trained. I tried to do the same thing with Mommy today and she just said "good night" and left me to cry, she's mean.

Speech therapy isn't much fun. I don't like going anymore and I heard Mommy and Daddy saying I'll be going to occupational therapy soon and all I can think is that this isn't going to be fun either. I'm still not talking, I only use the sign for more when I feel like it and Mommy is worried and frustrated but you know what, I'll do it when I really want to, but not a second before.
